The conference is devoted to computational methods applied in the field of wood mechanics and timber engineering for research from material properties up to structural applications. By bringing together leading academic scientists, researcher scholars and young scientists, it aims at providing a platform for scientific exchange and at facilitating discussions of research topics in wood mechanics and timber engineering. Five invited, well-known researchers of the field will give keynote lectures. We invite both oral presentations and poster presentations in the area of numerical and analytical models, experimental investigations, and design concepts for wood at different length scales.
The first edition of the ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on "Computational Methods in Wood Mechanics - from Material Properties to Timber Structures" took place on June 7-9, 2017 in Vienna, Austria.
85 participants, among them 25 students attended CompWood 2017.
The aim of this first edition was to establish a platform for knowledge exchange between scientists in the field of computational wood mechanics. Related experimental and theoretical research as well as applied research up to design solutions for practical examples are also welcome, to extend the knowledge base of this unique material.
